.NET-Centric Dev Tooling Vendor Boosts Blazor Components, Supports .NET Core 3.0

In the dynamic landscape of .NET development, the current focal points are .NET Core 3.0 and Blazor, prompting third-party development tool vendors to swiftly align with these latest advancements. A notable player in this realm, Progress, recently unveiled the R3 2019 release of Progress Telerik tooling tailored for .NET developers.

This release notably supports the .NET Core 3.0 Release Candidate, which was released just a week before .NET Core 3.0 reached official general availability. While there is often a lag between Microsoft’s release and tool vendors’ updates, Microsoft asserted that the Release Candidate was production-ready and virtually identical to the general availability release. [Note: Progress later updated its release to support .NET Core 3.0 GA on the day of its official release.]

In addition to backing .NET Core 3.0 RC, Progress’s latest release enhances the Progress Telerik UI for Blazor tool. This augmentation includes the incorporation of over 25 new native UI components, spanning from Grid to Styling. Blazor, an increasingly popular project, recently transitioned from its experimental stage. It employs WebAssembly to compile C# code for web development, traditionally the exclusive domain of JavaScript.

The Progress Telerik release doesn’t solely focus on Blazor; it introduces new components and accessibility enhancements for ASP.NET Core and ASP.NET MVC. These additions encompass components such as TimeLine and a PDF Viewer, while improvements to ASP.NET AJAX include enhanced accessibility, the introduction of a Drawer component, and an upgraded Spreadsheet.

Beyond these, Progress’s .NET tooling portfolio extends to various targets, incorporating new features and functionalities for mobile development (Xamarin), desktop applications (WPF and WinForms), and tools related to reporting, testing, and productivity.
